For my 21st birthday I was out of the country, spending a semester in Germany. My mom put together a party-in-a-box, complete with cake mix, flamingo party favors (you know, the cheap pencils and plastic toys) complete with favor bags, candles, paper plates, and even a "pin the party hat on the flamingo" game. It was fun getting all my American friends over to party with my German house-mates!

I don't know if it's my favorite birthday memory, but this year was really fun. I was at Confirmation Camp for my birthday and knew something might happen, but thanks to my wife, Jess, and our youth director, Kim, things were all out. Jess had sent along posters with classic Dan birthday pics on them to decorate various parts of the camp. She also sent various party favors, a present, and a video to surprise me. Kim added a balloon to follow me around, a massive birthday cake, and told all the kids that they were supposed to spend the day making me feel old.
It was great fun!
