Pensive Question of the Week
By John | June 2, 2008
“Just don’t know what to do with myself…”
You can sing along with me & Burt & Dionne…
I don’t know what to do this morning. Every week I would stave off a case of the Monday’s by going to my favorite coffee shop in Appleton. But it closed on Saturday. Dunn Bros. coffee, a MN treat, made a good go of it the last couple of years here, but just couldn’t pull through (didja catch that espresso joke…). A local coffee shop, the Copper Rock, will be taking it over soon.
I loved Dunn Bros because they roasted their own beans right in the store. There’s nothing like that smell greeting you at the door and
carrying all the way through your hot cup of brazilian dark roasted coffee - with just a smidge of cream. But it wasn’t just the coffee that made it the place for me to go - it was the fun baristas & the crazy, story-filled regulars too! ( I even wrote an email to the Copper Rock owners telling them they should keep the baristas…and I never do that…)
What should I do this morning? Drink some cat poo coffee? I’m not so sure…

What’s the best coffee shop in your community?
Or the best locally roasted beans?

I’m going to spout some heresy on this site (not Christian heresy, which would be bad for a pastor, but instead some coffee heresy). I don’t like coffee, but since coffee shops are fun to hang out at, I’ll plug Fusion Cafe in downtown Plano. Reports I’ve heard speak to good coffee. I like the Italian soda, which you can enjoy in tons of different flavors. Nice relaxed atmosphere with good people.

Look at you putting me to task Elizabeth. I’ll read a big, old, boring theology book today in your honor. Then I’ll give you a call and summarize it in 5000 words or more…
