    Echo Live Thursday

    By John | August 14, 2008

Dan and I are at the echo conference right now. We’re pretty excited to hear leaders of church media production talk about how technology can be used to glorify God! Over the next 3 days, we’ll blog during the sessions and post a summary at the end of each day.

    Get ready…here we go!

    Thursday
    4:30 pm
Registration at Watermark Community Church. Holy cow-this church runs out of an 8 story office building right off the freeway. Amazing.
    5 pm
    Dinner
Gotta tell you that Texas BBQ is the best! Brisket, chicken, and sausage all washed down with a Dr. Pepper. I might as well go get a 10 gallon hat and ride off into the sunset.

    7pm
    Keynote speaker 1
    Mark Batterson
We’ve just used Mark’s book, In a Pit with a Lion, to discuss the place of God ordained opportunities in our lives. So out was pretty near to see Mark on person and hear that his speaking style was very similar to his writing style.

    Key points:
    1. Matthew 10:16 the first commission.
Life’s not safe - we are sheep among wolves. We’re called to live dangerously.

    2. “The printing press is the highest and extremist form of grace that God has given us to advance the gospel” - Martin Luther

    3. There are ways of doing church that no one has thought of yet.

    9pm
    Dessert
Sweet goodness - strawberries and cream puffs!

    End of day 1
A quick jaunt up I-75 and I’m back to the hotel, ready for a new day tomorrow. Back at it 9am - see you then.
