This is a follow up book to the Mark Batterson book we just finished reviewing, In a Pit with a Lion. I just finished reading it yesterday, and [...]

What a fantastic voice! It’s always great to hear a new singer/songwriter that is full of passion. The depth of her soul was poured out in a mix of tender lyrics [...]
Saturday Thoughts on “Why do Christians Seem So Negative Sometimes?”
Saturday, August 16th, 2008Why do Christians seem so negative sometimes? Why does it seem like Christians are against more things than they’re for?
These are thoughts you sometimes hear expressed by nonChristians. It’s not always based on daily interaction with Christians and might be their perception based on what they see in the media, but sometimes I’ve noticed it [...]
Echo Live Friday

Todd Wagner
1. You have to communicate through image. Metaphor is the most powerful force in the history of mankind.
2. Martin Luther - The common people would rather see a well drawn picture than a well written book.
3. Entertain(holding attention) vs. Amuse (no thinking) when you have the most powerful [...]

Exploring, “The Shack”- 2- Can a Story be Both Fiction and Nonfiction?
Thursday, August 14th, 2008Just the forward of this book invites discussion. In this little note we hear that Willie, a friend of Mack, will put into words Mack’s story. You are carried into this world and what I find interesting is that it’s very easy already to blur the line between what is fiction and what’s not.
First, you [...]
Sharing Your Faith- 5- Would if I’m a Bad Witness? Christian “hypocrites”
Wednesday, August 13th, 2008Would if I’m a bad witness?
Has that ever been your fear? You’d like to witness more, but you’re afraid you might do or say something that would then make a person think poorly of the faith.
I don’t have any bumper stickers on my car right now, but I remember thinking once about getting a [...]
In a Pit with a Lion 7
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008Today marks the conclusion of our conversation about God-given opportunities based on Mark Batterson’s “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day” .
Well, we’ve reached the end of Mark’s book. It’s our second book that we’ve read through here at Faith Emergence, and I hope that you’re enjoying the discussion. I know [...]
8th Grade Question of the Week
Monday, August 11th, 2008One of my favorite things about bringing our church’s 8th graders up to Camp Luther is the 3rd learning session we have with them. In the morning, after breakfast, but before kayaking and challenge courses, the kids get a chance to write down any question they have about faith, the Church, Jesus, or anything at [...]
Saturday Thoughts on Idolatry
Saturday, August 9th, 2008Just a brief thought for today. Have you noticed how vulernable the Israelites are to idolatry in the Old Testament. Over and over again the pattern of God’s people turning to idols, getting in trouble, calling out to God, getting rescued, but then going back to idols again. It almost seems ridiculous.
Just read Judges 8 [...]
