I wanted to include one last post on the Spiritual Retreat which also seemed to be a good topic for my Saturday Thoughts.  It revolves around a question Pastor Otte posed to the group during our last session together, and I think it’s one that can help you frame your daily walk and the decisions you’re making.  Here it is.

Why didn’t God take you home the minute you became a Christian?

Good question, huh.  He has a purpose for you and that purpose is to glorify his name in all that you say and do, both in your life and as you care for others.  God challenges us to lead forth change in our world, but how does he ask us to lead that change.  Well, one of the Scriptures Pastor Otte quoted was Romans 12:9-18.  Read those words right now.

Pastor Otte then challenged us to think of these as leadership words.  God calls us to lead, but he calls us to a different type of leadership than the world.  One that leads through love, hospitality, humility, and even blessing our enemies.  That’s a challenge to us as Christians living in the world and it’s my prayer for myself and all my Christian brothers and sisters every day.
