Would Jesus Digg It?- 2- The Fall Lineup

If you’re wondering about my unusual spelling of the word, digg, or why I’m using it, check out last week’s post. Basically, I’m looking to engage pop culture stories or items of note and think a little about the good, bad, and otherwise how or why we should or should not relate to them.

This week, how about the fall lineup for television. If you’re curious about what’s coming up, just check out this page on MSN. Now in all honesty, I can’t say I’ve heard or know much about the new shows coming out. After reading through descriptions of them, I can’t say much sounds all that intriguing. Of course, that’s what I thought about Lost when I first heard it described too. I’m now a big fan, and that’s one I think Jesus would find intriguing as well. After all, it’s got a compelling narrative, characters who are in the midst of self-reflection, and it asks the big questions about truth, human nature, etc. Maybe a show like Fringe will do something like that.

Is there anything you’re excited about? What about returning shows? Maybe there’s something I should check out that I haven’t or that you think would be worth reviewing.

I don’t know if you’ve paid any attention to tv this summer, but I there was one show that I thought brought something good to tv, Wipeout. Very simple premise- a gameshow where people try to get through ridiculous obstacles and while they make their attempts, you get treated to a funny and witty running commentary that manages to avoid being mean-hearted. It’s nice to see somewhat light-hearted fare that entertains without leaving a guilty aftertaste.

So comment away. I’d like to hear some suggestions for future evaluation.
