So what did you think of the inauguration coverage? What tone did you get from it?
Most people seem to happy with the speeches, notes of caution measured by an overall tone of hope. There’s been some discussion of whether or not his speech was a direct dig at President Bush. I can’t say that I heard anything particularly shocking there so I’m not sure Bush would be quite as uncomfortable as some people seem to indicate. What do you think about his transition out of office? He seems to have handled it in a graceful fashion, speaking out about his decisions, yet also admitting some mistakes.
Also, how do you feel about the excitement around the inauguration? It’s interesting because people have focused a lot on race, but there’s more to it as well. Do you think the racial issues was covered well, or do you think it took too dominant a tone?
Would about coverage of Warren’s prayer and Justice Robert’s wording? Any impressions on that?
While there were definitely elements of the coverage I didn’t like, what I did like was something I saw yesterday on MSN. There was a little crawl with comments people left. While some were very negative and some were over the top gushing, I liked that there were a lot of comments simply stating that the country was moving forward and praying things would go in the right direction. This Jesus would like. Whatever your opinions of Bush and Obama, we need to be in this line- praying or our country and hopeful for our future because we know that God is guiding it in the end.
