Ok, so I’m putting off my chapter from Luther a day because this is a little more timely. I don’t think I can pass by the chance to see what people thought of the Tim Tebow Superbowl ad.
I think this ad was indeed a great example of God doing some amzing things despite the opposite intention of many. You’ve got Planned Parenthood and other groups going after the ad and saying CBS should cancel it. You’ve got a ton of people saying Tebow shouldn’t get involved in so much controversy. And there’ s a ton of hype. Everyone is waiting to see the controvesial piece. And all you have is a quick little thought from Pam about how thankful she was for her miracle baby and that sometimes you have to be tough. Then they point you to Focus on the Family’s website for more.
That’s it. Not much in general in terms of message, but I think they did exactly what they wanted. They got to put out a positive, humurous message that would drive people to their site where more information could be found. They got a ton of free publicity thanks to the controversy. And in the end most people would have watched the ad and been thinking, “What were those pro-choice people so worked up about?”
Nice to see God’s hand at work.
