    Faith Emergence

I don’t know what started it in you. Maybe it was gazing up at the wondrous stars, confronting the harsh reality of death, or talking with someone who believes, but I’ll bet that at one point or another you’ve asked questions like these:

Do other people question God like me?

What does it mean to follow Jesus? or be a Christian?

How does my faith influence the way I work? the way I parent? the way I look at the world?

All these questions (and more) are part of an emerging faith. We don’t have all the answers - but we want to search them out with you. We hope that if you’re seeking to learn who Jesus is, wanting to grow in your faith, or praying about how to help lead others on their journey that you will find Faith Emergence to be a community full of people wanting to encourage & help you along your way.

Dan Borkenhagen & John Scott met while drinking a beer studying at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. They both graduated in ‘06 with a Master of Divinity degree, and were called as pastors to large congregations in Plano, TX and Appleton, WI respectively. Somewhere along the way, they realized that they didn’t know it all, and that following Jesus was a lot more complicated, fascinating, challenging, rewarding, demanding, and inspiring than they thought.

Dan is enjoying life as your average new parish pastor. That means he’s learning the art of juggling- juggling tasks (is his motto really, yes sir give me another), juggling family (beautiful wife Jessica, son Reuel, and dog, Idgy), and of course juggling sports (how do you live as a Minnesota fan in the heart of TX- you step lightly!)

John’s wife Erin is his segulah, and his toddler son Ethan keeps him in shape - kind of. Every day he thanks God for wireless technology and the freedom & flexibility it affords. Even though he lives (way too) close to Lambeau Field, John has stayed true to his roots by sticking up for his Chicago Bears at every turn. And if it’s still early in the baseball season, the Cubs get some love too!
